December on the French Riviera is a bit like a well-kept secret: the air cools, the pace slows — and yet everything remains possible. During the day, the coastline enjoys mild temperatures, around 13–14°C.
The sea, meanwhile, has tightened its grip — its temperature hovers around 13–15°C: not ideal for swimming for most people, but perfect for admiring the horizon and enjoying the coast without the summer crowds.
Even in December, the French Riviera doesn’t sleep. Museums stay open and offer an ideal experience at this time of year: the Matisse Museum and the Chagall Museum in Nice, the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco, the Picasso Museum in Antibes and many more.
