In June, the French Riviera already feels like summer vacation. Temperatures often rise above 25°C (77°F), café terraces are lively, and the beaches begin to fill with sunseekers. Yet, it’s still far less crowded than in August, and that’s exactly what makes this period so enjoyable.
For me, it’s the best time to enjoy the most beautiful beaches on the French Riviera. In Nice, the famous pebble beaches attract the first real sunbathers of the season, while in Antibes, Juan-les-Pins, and Saint-Raphaël, the sandy beaches become true little corners of paradise.
I especially love recommending the quieter coves between Théoule-sur-Mer and the Massif de l’Estérel. The water is often crystal clear as early as June, and the scenery is stunning, with red rocks plunging into the Mediterranean Sea.
It’s also the perfect season to try water activities. Paddleboarding, kayaking, boat trips, or snorkeling — the sea is calm and conditions are ideal. Many visitors discover a different side of the French Riviera during this time, one that feels wilder and more natural.
And of course, it’s impossible to talk about June without mentioning the sunsets. The evenings become incredibly mild, and beach restaurants begin offering their first summer atmospheres. Dining by the sea while watching the sun disappear behind the hills is an unforgettable experience.
